GABION BOX

Gabions are rectangular/Square shaped wire containers which are filled with stones, at site, to create permeable, flexible, monolithic structures such as retaining walls, channel linings, revetment, weirs, etc., to provide solutions against soil erosion and flood control. These have been accepted by Civil Engineers and Architects as the most suitable option. Gabion boxes are formed from panels of double twisted mesh which are framed with thicker wire sections. Twisted mesh prevents unraveling in case of wires breakdown. More than 1 meter boxes are partitioned through diaphragms.

Weldmesh gabions are also popular and have found their way formally in India and other countries. In India, IS for welded mesh gabions is IS 16013. Welded gabion boxes are joined together with help of specially manufactured spirals.
